BMW Art Cars

I’ve been thinking recently how I’d like to customise my BMW R1100RT. I think there’s a lot of scope to do a really interesting paint job on all that body work. This got me thinking about the “BMW Art Car” project. I am sure that everybody out there is familiar with the BMW motor company. In 1975 the “BMW Art Car” Project was launched by Hervé Poulain. The purpose of this project was to invite renowned artists from throughout the world to use the BMW car as their personal canvas. In June 2010 the latest of this series of cars was unveiled just before it races in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. There were 17 cars that had been specially designed for this series, and some pretty renowned artists, including David Hockney, Jeff Koons and Andy Warhol.
